"His yard is a shrewd one, and he looks to have been found a good opportunity to get off the mark."

Timeform on Cosmic King

14:00 - COSMIC KING's (9) effort to finish fourth on handicap debut at Southwell recently was a very positive one, considering that he was returning from a long absence and lost a shoe in the run. His yard is a shrewd one, and he looks to have been found a good opportunity to get off the mark. Several of these appeal as being well-handicapped, though, most notably Hattaab and Barrdd, who can chase the selection home.

14:35 - HAUL AWAY (5) will have learnt plenty from his encouraging hurdling debut at Ludlow last November, pulling clear of the rest to finish second behind a subsequent improver. He's in excellent hands, and should take all of the beating in this. Potterman disappointed at Bangor last time but is the biggest danger returned to the scene of his bumper win, whilst there could yet be more to come from Myplaceatmidnight.

15:10 - KINGS TEMPTATION (3) made some novicey mistakes when finishing second on his chasing bow at Market Rasen in March, but that effort wasn't far off his best hurdling form, and with improvement expected, he's fancied to go one better on his second start. MIDNIGHT GEM (6) was beginning to struggle towards the end of last season, but has some of the best form on offer, and is worth adding into the fold now returned from a break in what's a wide-open heat.

15:45 - It's interesting that the Nicky Henderson yard are persevering with LE DAUPHIN (6), considering that he failed to make the expected impact in handicaps last term. Returned from a break, it could be worth chancing that he's able to get back on track. Bandon Roc and Mab Dab both arrive here on the back of wins last time out, and both deserve consideration.

16:15 - BLAGAPAR (7) hasn't been seen on the track since August 2016, but he returns on what looks like an appealing mark. The Dr Richard Newland yard is a shrewd one, and considering that he specilaises with these types, he makes plenty of appeal provided that all is well with him. Black Buble has been raised 12 lb for his recent success but is respected, whilst Shining Romeo is another who enters calculations.

16:45 - CAPITOUL (3) proved a revelation on chasing debut over C&D last month, attacking the task with gusto and running his rivals ragged. He sets a lofty standard here, and is fancied to defy an 11 lb rise to score again. Miss Night Owl is the most interesting of the opposition, and is selected for the forecast.

17:15 - An open finale, in which LYNDSAYS LAD (3) is fancied to get off the mark at the second time of asking. He was in need of the experience when finishing seventh on debut at Kempton in March, and he could well leave that form well behind now for the Nicky Henderson team. Skyline is one of several to consider, ahead of Thomas Darby and Nanny Pat's.
