Today's Horse Racing Tips: Jan Maat to claim honours at Killarney

Trainer Henry De Bromhead sends Jan Maat to Killarney on Tuesday evening

Alan Dudman started his week off with a 4.4 winner yesterday at Windsor, and he's back with two selections in a pair of feature races in Ireland for Tuesday...

"I expect him to race up with the pace and jump well - and Killarney could bring out the best in him, as he does go with plenty of zest."

Back Jan Maat @ [4.5] in the 18:30 at Killarney

Halford's Simsir to show some class in Listed feature

15:30 Roscommon - Back Simsir @ [5.50]

There's plenty of quality in Ireland in both codes for today, and that's the focus for the two bets.

First up, trainer Michael Halford's horses appear to be clicking into gear nicely this month, and I am expecting a decent run from Simsir in the feature Listed Lenebane Stakes at 15:30.

He looked a little short of match sharpness when he was turned over at a short price on his return to action last time out at Limerick, so I'll give him another chance to show what he can do.

This horse enjoyed a decent Meydan carnival during the winter and he always seems to travel well in his races. He landed a race out in Dubai in very smooth fashion.

Therefore, if you like to back-to-lay, there's plenty of scope to trade him from a price of [5.50].

It's a fairly strong race, but good ground suits and he's right up there on ratings at 105.

Expect a good show from De Bromhead chaser

18:30 Killarney - Back Jan Maat @ [4.50]

We have some good racing over the jumps on Tuesday night, and I'll be looking out for Jan Maat to put up a bold show in a competitive handicap chase.

He was a tough and resilient novice last season, and typical for one trained by Henry De Bromhead with his attitude to jumping and racing. I expect him to race up with the pace and jump well - and Killarney could bring out the best in him, as he does go with plenty of zest.

With plenty of good ground form, the surface should suit.

He was last seen in the Grand Annual at the Cheltenham festival, and he didn't perform too badly in that beaten 13 lengths. He has gone well after a break in the past, and as a Grade 3 winning novice, we can get a good run for our money from him.
