Peerless Percy showed improved form to finish third on his handicap debut/reappearance at Hamilton last month, still looking a little rough around the edges, and he probably should have followed that up with a win over this course and distance last time, a lack of knowhow costing him what looked a certain win as he hung left inside the final furlong. He is clearly open to further improvement however, and is worth siding with to make amends.

Spring Bloom produced a career best when winning a novice at Thirsk last time, having too much speed for his rivals, but he still demonstrated why he had been tried in headgear the time before, not keeping straight when first brought under pressure and also giving a flash of the tail. He could well have more to offer over this trip, but he will have to keep his quirks in check and this is an interesting race for the grade, with a couple of rivals arriving here in good form, and at the forecast prices, Spring Bloom looks one to avoid.

Candescence knew what was required as she made a winning start to life at Pontefract in June, edging ahead early in the straight and just holding on, overcoming something of a pace bias to add to the luster of the effort. Mark Walford's sole previous debut two-year-old winner followed up next time, and this looks a good opportunity for his filly to progress herself, with Walford's record with horses stepping up in a further advertisement for her chances.
