13:30 - HASHTAGMETOO (2) has had plenty of chances to break her maiden tag but looks to have been found her easiest opportunity to date so can do just that at Chelmsford. She was last seen at Goodwood over a mile only four days ago where she led for most of the way until the last half furlong. She drops down to seven furlongs today which will suit and after a close miss over this trip at Newmarket, which was a career best, she rates as the strongest chance. James Doyle gets on board Incognito for Mick Channon and would rate as the biggest danger, as Space Ace looks to be one with her mind not in the game, so is opposable.
14:00 - Lothario was seen to good effect last time when the beneficiary of a good ride and looks vulnerable here today off her new mark. Liliofthelamplight needs to put a poor performance behind her but wouldn't be the first from the Mark Johnston yard to do so to get competitive but it looks as if James Tate has found SOLAR HEIGHTS (2) a good opportunity to get her head back in front. She bolted up over C&D in a first-time visor on her penultimate start and with that retained, her next start saw her finish a creditable second after being poorly placed in the run. James Doyle gets on board here and he can steer this filly to victory, despite now being 11 lb higher than her previous success.
14:30 - DESERT FOX (6) finished a creditable second over C&D last time out when racing freely throughout and with a stronger pace forecast today, that can help Mike Murphy's charge settle better and have more left at the finish. He also gets cheekpieces to aid his cause again and has Rossa Ryan on board, who knows him well, so he has plenty in his favour. Chookie Dunedin makes appeal on his long journey down from Scotland for the in-form Keith Dalgleish yard, whilst Restless Rose needs to prove she's just as good now tackling six furlongs again.
15:00 - An intriguing conditions event is next with Surf Dancer the hot favourite on the back of his minor event win at Leicester but STATE CROWN (4) is an extremely well-bred newcomer who gets plenty of weight from the field and could show up well on debut. Charlie Appleby often sends a smart one to Chelmsford and given that this colt is related to Group 1 dirt winner Blair House and smart handicapper Key Victory, he looks set to handle the surface well and make a successful debut.
15:30 - King Power was disappointing in the Italian Oaks last time but does set the standard on her third in the Lingfield Oaks trial back in May, but could be vulnerable to FLY THE FLAG (1) now she is upped in trip. She's bred to stay and looks likely to do so off the back of her latest run at Windsor, when still shaping as if in need of the experience. She kept on the one pace that day so the extra three furlongs here will be in her favour and she can improve past the favourite.
16:00 - MISTER CHIANG (5) put in a rare poor effort at Ripon last time, but that might have been because the soft ground so looks capable of bouncing back returned to the surface that saw him bring up his first win back in December. He had previously looked a horse worth following since applied with blinkers, winning his first two starts in that headgear before being bumped about in a messy race at Brighton, which wouldn't have helped. He can bounce back here and take this contest at the expense of C&D winner Houlton.
16:30 - LOPE ATHENA (7) makes her handicap debut off a lowly mark of 57 and given her pedigree, connections must hope there is more to come from her now upped in trip. She was sixth on her final start in minor company at this track in a good contest, with two subsequent winners in front her. That contest was too hot for her to handle but dropped into a low-grade handicap, she could improve further now. Shifting Gold looks like giving her most to think about off the back of two good efforts.
17:00 - Astral Girl is ought to be capable of better given her pedigree now stepping into handicaps but her form is uninspiring and she could be vulnerable to the most exposed horse in the field, HARD TOFFEE (1). This horse has a liking to this C&D, having a good record and with talented apprentice George Rooke taking off a valuable 7 lb, he can go in. Eagle Queen is of interest with headgear applied and dropped in trip but is risky.
