It's another top-class weekend of racing with the Epsom Oaks & Derby taking centre stage this weekend, along with a high-class edition of the Coral Eclipse at Sandown plus Group 1 action from France. The team on the Racing Only...Bettor Podcast are here to mark your card.
"This is a very interesting race. I think Enable is worth taking on given connections have indicated that she is not as forward as they would like her to be."
Below is a summary of their bets but listen to the show to find out more...
Kevin: The one I have gone for is Russian Emperor. I think he'll relish the step up in trip.
Barry: For me I'm willing to stick with Mogul. He's a horse that's really going to improve from his first run at Ascot and I think he will take a fair bit of beating on Saturday.
Barry: I've been mad about Love since last year. The form of the 1000 Guineas has taken a few knocks but she couldn't have won any easier. She is crying out for a step up in trip. Frankly Darling showed an impressive turn of foot last time at Ascot and Love will know she will have been in a race.
Kevin: I've nothing against Love bar her price. I worry about Frankly Darling and her racing character. She seemed to get pretty fired up at Ascot with no crowd there. The one I have gone for is Ennistymon. I really liked her run last time out and she looks a lovely filly for this race.
Gary: For me it's Frankly Darling. I think she has a bit of star quality about her.
The Woodcote Stakes
Barry: I fancy Modern News. He impressed me at Newmarket. I think the trip and conditions at Ascot caught him out. A rea fast 6f on good ground should really suit him.
Kevin: I'm hoping Twaasol has learned enough from his debut and he could put that experience to good use.
Prince Elizabeth Stakes
Kevin: Cloak Of Spirits ran quite well in the 1000 Guineas although the form has taken a few knocks. She is a good pacy filly and I fancy her to beat Fooraat.
Barry: Daarik could be the one to lay on the day. His form on turf isn't the greatest and is one to take on.
The Eclipse Stakes
Barry: This is a very interesting race. I think Enable is worth taking on given connections have indicated that she is not as forward as they would like her to be.
Kevin: It's far from certain that Ghaiyyath will get his own way in front and that could impact on the pace of the race. I'd be very forgiving of Japan at Ascot. Everything went wrong for him that day. He still is a very good horse and I wouldn't be forgetting him in. This is going to be a brilliant contest.
Gary: If I had to put my neck on the block I would have to back Ghaiyyath.
Barry: I like Mishriff for John Gosden here. I think at around 7/1 he could be worth a nibble at that price
Kevin: I was underwhelmed with Victor Ludorum on his reappearance and he well and truly left that run behind when winning last time out. I like Ocean Atlantique. Stamina isn't an issue for him and he is a worthy opponent for the favourite. If they meet again in three months I would favour Ocean Atlantique but for the here and now it's Victor Ludorum.
Kevin: This is one of the best races of the weekend. Alpine Star really impressed me last season. I thought it was a high-class performance last time out. I like the fact that they are gradually taking the step up in trip with her. Fancy Blues is another that I would be keen on. She is one that will love the step up in trip and I expect her to improve for it.
Barry: It's a fascinating contest and one well worth watching for the rest of the season. Alpine Star was very impressive at Ascot and is a worthy favourite.
Barry: Modern news. The drop back to 6f should suit him and hopefully he will do the business
Gary: Russian Emperor for the Derby. I think he has leading claims in an open race.
Kevin: We'll keep it to Epsom and I'll go for Ennistymon in the Oaks.
