Timeform on Aljari

Timeform take you through the card at Chelmsford on Tuesday evening...

16:50 - A close-up sixth in the Molecomb back in July, RAAHY (1) is the clear pick on that form and will likely find this easier than the nursery he contested at Chester recently. Electric Ladyland, a winner twice earlier in the season, ran as well as ever when second at Wolverhampton 17 days ago and should push the selection hard. Magical Moment has a fair bit to find, but will improve following an encouraging debut.

17:25 - BELLE ANGLAISE (1) has a penalty to carry for her Brighton win, but she's capable of better still, particularly over this longer trip, and should be up to the job. Paycheck has a bit to find, but should improve on her debut effort at Ascot earlier this month. Taamer could be the pick of the newcomers.

18:00 - OSLO (3) produced the best effort of his short career to date when third at Goodwood last time, though he still looked very much a work in progress, running green after being left behind by the winner from two furlongs out and losing a place close home. On that evidence, there is still scope for plenty of improvement as he gains in experience, with his smart pedigree an ongoing recommendation, and it would be no surprise if he proved a totally different proposition now starting out in handicaps after a gelding operation (also wears first-time visor), representing a trainer and jockey who can both boast excellent strike rates when competing at Chelmsford in recent years.

18:30 - EDGE (2) came good on the all-weather last autumn and could be ready to strike again back at Chelmsford having dropped in the weights. Three-year-olds Penarth Pier and Masai Spirit are a couple of other live contenders.

19:00 - Michael Blake has proved profitable to follow when sending only one runner to a meeting in recent seasons, and he is likely to have high hopes when heading to Chelmsford this evening with MERDON CASTLE (8). A winner at this venue back in February 2015, he has fallen a long way in the weights since then with only one further win to his name (from a BHA mark of 75), but there was plenty to like about his third on debut for this yard at Bath three weeks ago, and the case for him is a fairly easy one to make if backing that up, lining up here from a BHA mark of 46 with Megan Nicholls claiming 3 lb, too.

19:30 - A five-length winner of his penultimate outing at Wolverhampton, ALJARI (3) improved again to defy a penalty here last time, looking better the further he went as he stayed on to lead inside the final furlong, ultimately well on top at the line. That form could hardly have worked out better, with the second and third both winning next-time-out, and Aljari's scope for further improvement suggests that a BHA mark of 90 is unlikely to prove beyond him on handicap debut, especially now back up in trip for the in-form Marco Botti yard (54% of horses running to form).

20:00 - GRISONS (9) supplemented his Bath maiden victory with something to spare on handicap debut at Salisbury 11 days ago and a subsequent 8 lb rise should not prevent a bold bid to complete the hat-trick. Desert Fox and Dahik similarly arrive in good order and can also feature.

20:30 - SPICE WAR (4) landed a gamble back from 13 months off for a new yard at Kempton three weeks ago and is taken to follow up after a 4 lb rise. Barca and Heron could be the ones to chase him home.
