Timeform on Colonel Slade

Timeform take you through the card at Chelmsford on Tuesday evening...

16:15 - STORY OF LIGHT (9) failed to meet market expectations when fifth on his debut at York in May, but he looks the type to improve with that experience under his belt and should take plenty of beating if fully wound up after six months off and a gelding operation. Kuwait Direction has the best form in the book but might be vulnerable now, with Motamayiz preferred for the forecast spot.

16:45 - SUMMERONSEVENHILLS (4) remains with potential after only three starts and could be the way to go now up in trip for his handicap debut, with the application of first-time blinkers also fancied to bring about some improvement. Good Reason did the job impressively on her nursery debut over C&D, and, with further progress likely, she has to be feared despite going up 12 lb. She's A Unicorn also merits respect.

17:15 - DIVINE CONNECTION (1) was just behind Chateau Peapod when a close third at Kempton two weeks ago, but she's effectively 6 lb better off here with Tyler Saunders' claim taken into account. Jonathan Portman's charge is taken to reverse the placings and emerge on top this time. The selection may have most to fear from last-time-out winner Bavardages, while Boy George makes some each-way appeal.

17:45 - RIDESON (13) made a most encouraging start to her career when second over seven furlongs here last month, finding herself short of room entering the final furlong and doing well under the circumstances to finish as close as she did, never nearer than the neck she was beaten at the line. That form sets the clear standard on weight-adjusted ratings here and her scope for further progress identifies her as comfortably the one to beat. Agreed and Lisbet are others to note on debut for the John Gosden yard that has won four of the last five renewals of this race.

18:15 - COLONEL SLADE (13) came up short when attempting to complete a hat-trick at Kempton two weeks ago, but he shaped better than the bare result in fourth, possibly paying the price late on for making his effort sooner than ideal under an inexperienced rider. He certainly showed enough to suggest that he is still on a fair mark and should give another good account here if managing to get to the lead from his wide draw, with Ben Curtis back in the saddle. John Clare, Zefferino and Crimewave are just three of several dangers in an open heat.

18:45 - DARING VENTURE (5) makes most appeal in this concluding leg of the Placepot, a well-bred filly from a top yard who has low mileage. She was returning from a break when fourth at Kempton recently, so should be sharper now, and the first-time hood may just give her the edge she needs to get back to winning ways. Knowing Glance, successful at Carlisle when last seen in August, is next on the list, with fellow last-time-out winners Captain Dion and Secondo also respected.

19:15 - AFFLUENCE (1) put in a decent shift over hurdles recently and also performed well upped to this trip at Wolverhampton last month when partnered by an inexperienced apprentice. He's 1 lb lower now and will benefit from stronger handling, so looks to have plenty in his favour. Homesick Boy did the job well over C&D 24 days ago and is feared despite the 8 lb rise. Bill Cody also has claims.

19:45 - EDEN GARDENS (1) made an encouraging return from an absence at Kempton and Simon Crisford's charge gets the nod with further improvement on the cards, but there are plenty of dangers. Amjaady has gone close over C&D on his last two starts and ought to be on the premises again, while Lady Adelaide, Maximum Effect and Torochica are lightly-raced three-year-olds who could have more to offer.
