" only 1 lb higher than when winning over C&D in March, he is very much one to keep onside in a contest lacking depth..."

17:30 - PREDICTABLE TULLY (8) put her experience to good use and saw off all bar one destined for much better things at Newbury last time, looking a useful prospect in her own right in going down by just half a length. On that evidence, the step up to seven furlongs here is expected to see her in an even better light, and, 7 lb clear of her nearest rival on weight-adjusted ratings, she is hard to oppose in this opening leg of the Placepot. Penpal should be delivering soon after a promising debut at Kempton, while Ramsha and Rideson are a couple of interesting newcomers.

18:00 - A determined winner of his penultimate outing at Wolverhampton, TWO HEARTS (4) produced an even better effort in defeat when second from 8 lb higher at Redcar last week, simply unlucky to bump into another well-handicapped rival on the day with the pair clear. Grant Tuer's charge can race from the same mark here, in a nursery that is unlikely to take much winning, and his sound efforts of late identify him as by far the most solid propostion for Placepot purposes. Simply Susan could be a threat on her handicap debut, while Il Maestro could also have a say with his sights lowered.

18:30 - SOUTH COAST (6) again shaped well amidst greenness when filling the runner-up spot on her second outing at Epsom in August, unable to land a blow on the more clued-up winner after persistently hanging left from two furlongs out. That form still sets the standard here on weight-adjusted ratings, and with further improvement on the cards, she looks to have plenty in her favour now back on the all-weather for Saeed bin Suroor and Oisin Murphy, both of whom can boast excellent records when competing at Chelmsford in recent seasons. Baptism remains capable of better also, while Douglas Fir is an interesting newcomer for Mark Johnston.

19:00 - AIR FORCE AMY (6) showed improved form to open her account with a wide-margin success at Pontefract last week, quickly forging clear after taking it up a furlong out, and she should prove hard to beat if backing that effort up off the same mark. Ventura Royal has won two of her last three starts and looks the main threat under a penalty.

19:30 - Simon Crisford is another trainer who has excelled with his runners at Chelmsford (21% strike rate), while the fact he has just the one on this evening's card is another reason to sit up and take notice of ALUQAIR (7), with a level stakes profit of £106.90 when sending only one runner to a meeting. Admittedly, Aluqair was unable to get the job done when well backed at Newmarket last time, but that still represented a step back in the right direction after a blip at Chepstow, and, able to race from the same mark here, he looks to hold sound claims of getting back to winning ways, with the prospect of even more to come now up in trip (unsuited by emphasis on speed last time). Michele Strogoff was worn down only late on by a less exposed rival here nine days ago and is feared most.

20:00 - REAL ESTATE (6) shaped much better than his finishing position would suggest when sixth over C&D last time, travelling better than most and just starting to make headway when badly hampered entering the final furlong, ultimately finishing with running left. Michael Attwater's charge certainly showed enough to suggest that he is coming to the boil, and now only 1 lb higher than when winning over C&D in March, he is very much one to keep onside in a contest lacking depth, with Desert Fox, who shaped well in the same race as Real Estate last time, perhaps best of the rest in this concluding leg of the Placepot.

20:30 - FREA (10) shaped well back from a break over C&D last week, catching the eye with both how she travelled and finished, and is one to be interested in at this level. Broughton Excels took full advantage of a drop to a class 7 over C&D last week and is another to note in the finale.
