No luck for Alan yesterday but he has three selections today, his best bet runs at Wolverhampton and he has selections from Nottingham and Bangor...

"The three time course and distance winner drops into selling class today looks hard to oppose"

Michael Appleby's runner Mr Red Clubs may not have visited the winners' enclosure for more than two years, or in other words 21 starts. But today could be the day he breaks that streak. The three time course and distance winner drops into selling class and looks hard to oppose. The seven-year-old gelding has been falling down the ratings and is in today of his last winning mark of 69, he has run in selling class twice before and won on both occasions.

He seems to like it at Wolves where, from his 12 starts he has won five and been placed three times. His last start here, in February, he finished third of eight to Spes Nostra, who just last week finished only half a length second in a class two handicap. I expect Andrew Mullen to steer Mr Red Clubs to a long overdue victory today and 2/1 looks good to me.

14:45 Bangor - Old Magic @ 11/2 Sportsbook

Old Magic certainly produced some magic last month when the 11-year-old appeared at this track and won from 7lb outside of the handicap on soft ground by nine lengths at a very tasty 25/1. That was a class, four lady riders race, but he won with plenty in hand and today off a mark of 87 he is returning in a class five event.

Bridget Andrews may not be a jockey many people have heard of but she mostly rides for Dan Skelton (25 winners from 117 rides) and is a useful companion. She doesn't get many rides for other trainers, I think this is her first for Sophie Leech, but she has won four of her last seven races and is claiming a very handy 5lb allowance.

19:55 Nottingham - Dancing Years @ 4/1 Sportsbook

Dancing Years won her last race as a juvenile very impressively, when winning at Leicester on soft ground over six furlongs. It will be interesting to see how this daughter of Iffraaj does on her first appearance as a three-year-old. She looked to be improving with every start last year and I expect this race will bring her on again.

You are taking a bit of a chance on her fitness but off a mark of 72, I am prepared to give the Cheveley Park Stud runner the benefit of the doubt especially at 4/1. Even if today is not her day then I expect she will be one to follow this flat season.
