There is some interesting race at Haydock on Friday, and that is where we head for today's Placepot attempt.

"Ansaab would not be the first horse to show improved form for a switch to Mick Appleby..."

13:30- Pinky Promise appreciated the softer conditions when showing much-improved form to get off the mark at Brighton in August, before finishing down the field on much faster ground in warm sales race last time at Doncaster. The return to a smaller field and slower conditions will be in her favour, along with Tom Marquand's valuable 3lb claim, and she looks one to include for place purposes along with Harmonic Wave, who got off the mark in handicaps at Musselburgh last time, and may have more to offer from a 6lb higher mark.

14:00- Futoon drew clear of the field with a horse who had made a bright start in maidens when second on debut over C&D, and he looks the most solid Placepot option despite his absence, with many of those with experience having plenty to find on form.

14:35- This is tough, but Mississippi was best of those held up at Doncaster last time when third in a competitive race, and he looks set to go well again considering he defied this mark at Ripon earlier in the season. Flyman is the pick of the O'Meara trio, and is likely to run his race once more, having put up respectable efforts on his last two starts, including in the red-hot Ayr Silver Cup.

15:10- There are some interesting newcomers in this race, but Navajo War Dance sets the standard on form based on his two placed efforts at Newbury, and is the safest option to make the frame.

15:45- Mitchum Swagger looks a step ahead of the handicapper after a 6lb rise for his second career success last time at Haydock, but this is a deeper contest, and now up against a big field of seasoned handicappers, he is worth opposing for Placepot purposes. Express Himself met trouble last time in the Cambridgeshire, but he is respected as a C&D winner who had showed plenty of promise earlier in the season. Ansaab would not be the first horse to show improved form for a switch to Mick Appleby, and will be player if building on his promising debut for the yard.

16:20- Ice Dream is the one to beat on his close second here over 6 furlongs in September, and with the return to 7 furlongs expected to suit based on pedigree, he looks on a workable mark for his handicap debut.
