Glasvegas should go close in this novice stakes.

This colt has some rock solid form in the book, notably when finishing third to Southern Hills in the Windsor Castle at Royal Ascot. He met interference a furlong from home, but finished strongly and would have prevailed in a few more strides. To be honest, I thought he was a little unlucky not to claim the prize. He probably needed the run when finishing eighth to King's Lynn in a valuable sales race at Doncaster earlier this month. He is the clear form choice, and is reasonably priced at 2.8415/8 on the exchange.

Not surprisingly Lampang is the short priced favourite at 2.0621/20 on the exchange. He was impressive on debut when beating Panic Room at Carlisle. He swept to the front a furlong from home, and pulled clear to win decisively. He is the obvious danger, but will have to be pretty good to beat the selection.

I am going to take a chance with Look Closely in this interesting contest.

This gelding finished a creditable second to Cape Cavelli at Goodwood earlier this month. He took the lead two furlongs from home, but was collared by the winner near the line. This was his best effort to date and should appreciate the extra yardage. I think he has more to offer and is fairly priced at 6.25/1 on the exchange.

Great Esteem ran well on debut when finishing second to Casanova at Wolverhampton last month. He put in some good work in the closing stages, and finished the race with good energy. He is the big improver, but is priced accordingly at 2.265/4 on the exchange.
