Shalaa was impressive in the July Stakes and is in action at Glorious Goodwood today

It's the third day of Glorious Goodwood on Thursday, which has the potential for a decent Placepot yield.

14:05 - This race has a more open feel about it with the withdrawal of the favourite, Racing History, and it is worth including a couple of selections. The first is Resonant, representing the Mark Johnston yard who are bidding to win this race for the third successive year. Resonant was most impressive when taking apart a competitive-looking three-year-old handicap at Newmarket last time, and like so many from his yard, is likely to bounce back from a disappointing effort when turned out shortly after that. A 3lb rise in the weights for Shaakis' last victory, where he won with plenty in hand, seems fair, and he is clearly capable from this sort of mark, with a stronger pace and longer trip both set to play to his strengths.

14:35 - Shalaa won the July Stakes in some style last time, and with plenty more to come based on the fact he showed signs of greenness in the closing stages, he is worth banking on in our second leg, despite what looks to be a high-quality renewal of the Richmond Stakes.

15:10 - Quest For More needs to continue his progression this season to be competitive in this race, but it is easy to see him doing so based on his profile, with his dominant performance in the Northumberland Plate from a handicap mark of 104 being the third time he has improved this season, and he is expected to run well here tackling Group company for the first time. Pallasator was also progressive last season running over this sort of trip, and if he can keep a lid on his sometimes fiery antics in the preliminaries then he will hold solid place claims.

15:45 - Arabian Comet was second in this race last year and looks set to give another good account this time around, after an encouraging couple of outings so far this season where she has hinted that a return to this trip will be in her favour, she is expected to reverse Newmarket form with Jordan Princess, who was seen to maximum effect from the front that day.

16:20 - Notary is a worthy favourite here after a debut effort full of promise, but her draw has done her chance no favours today and it could pay to take her on with Tholen, who should be able to lead or race prominently from stall 1, and can continue her progressive profile to run well here.

16:55 - Montsarrat's win in a match last time at Catterick is hardly eye-catching, but he represents last year's winning connections and is sure to run well here, with his mark still looking fairly lenient even under a 6lb penalty. Lagenda produced a shock at Wetherby last time when beating an odds-on favourite by four lengths at an SP of 33/1, but there was no fluke about the result that day, and he looks fairly treated from a mark of 85 making his handicap debut from a decent draw.

14:05 - 3,11
14:35 - 1
15:10 - 7,8
15:45 - 2
16:20 - 17
16:55 - 2,8
