Patchwork - 18:50 Newmarket

Patchwork continued his run-to-run progression when accounting for two rivals in a 1m Redcar maiden last time, but he looks particularly well treated on handicap debut judged on his second to the useful Queen of Time previously. That form looks strong, and he left the impression he wasn't fully extended at Redcar last month, so open to further improvement, he is strongly fancied to extend Richard Hughes' good spell and win again. Cyrus Dallin made a successful start for the William Muir yard at Goodwood recently and is respected up 5 lb, while Mississippi Miss progressed with each outing last season and should have more to come this time round.

Orion's Bow - 19:00 Newcastle

Orion's Bow is most definitely in better form than his recent form figures suggest, not getting a chance to show what he could do dropped back to five furlongs at Musselburgh this month, persistently denied room from halfway, and leaving the impression he should have finished much closer. Unbeaten at this course since the all-weather track opened, including a win over C&D, he remains one to be interested in off this sort of mark. Jack Dexter has been given a chance by the handicapper and makes each-way appeal on his belated AW debut, while Escalating arrives in the form of his life and is another to consider.

Solar Cross - 19:25 Newmarket

Roger Charlton has his team in great order at present and Solar Cross confirmed the promise of his previous run when opening his account on handicap debut at Doncaster this month. That was a messy race, but the form is working out okay with a couple of next-time-out winners coming out. He will likely stay beyond 1½m, so this step up in trip shouldn't be an inconvenience, and he rates the type that will go on progressing for a while yet. City Limits could do a lot better with his reappearance behind him and is much respected under Moore, while Arab Moon needs to show he's fully effective on turf but has been progressive on the all-weather.
