Technician a solid choice
15:00 Sandown - Technician
Technician should make his presence felt in this fascinating contest.
This Mastercraftsman colt put in a much improved effort when beating Themaxwecan at Leicester earlier this month. He made most of the running, and pulled clear to win with complete authority. This was his first start for new owners Team Valor, who have had plenty of success with acquisitions over the years. I think this promising individual has a lot more to offer, and is fairly priced at 6.611/2.
Bangkok is the short-priced favourite at 2.427/5. He beat Telecaster in great style in a Doncaster maiden in March, and is another improver in this quality field. Short enough for me.
Time to Beat The Bank
15:35 Sandown - Beat The Bank
Beat The Bank is my idea of the winner of this Group 2 event.
This gelding had a super season last year winning a couple of Group 2 races, and running creditably in Group 1 company. One of his best efforts came in the Celebration Mile at Goodwood where he battled bravely to ward off the strong finishing Whiskey Baron. He lost his way towards the end of the year, but was probably feeling the effects of a long season. I think he fits well with this group, and his price at 3.8514/5 is about right.
Sharja Bridge heads the market at 3.185/40. This five-year-old easily won a Listed race at Doncaster on his seasonal reappearance and clearly has more to offer. This is his toughest assignment to date, but it would be foolish to underestimate him.
