Nick Shiambouros returns to the tipping chair with two selections from the outstanding Friday card at York...
"This improving sprinter is destined to go to the very top, and should prove difficult to beat"
15:00 York - Don't Touch
I am going to take a chance with Don't Touch in this interesting contest.
This gelding was a little disappointing when finishing down the field in a Group 3 event at Newcastle last month. He held every chance two furlongs from home, but was easily brushed aside and finished well beaten. He has some rock solid form in the book, including a fifth place finish behind The Tin Man at Ascot last October. I think he is well worth an interest at his current price of 20.019/1 on the exchange.
I have tipped up Suedois in the past, and he showed signs of life last time out when finishing third to Breton Rock at Goodwood. It has been a couple of seasons since his last victory, but I would not dismiss him lightly. He looks saver material at around 8.88/1 on the exchange.
15:35 York - Battaash
Battaash is my idea of the winner of this Group 1 sprint.
This talented performer was most impressive when beating Profitable at Goodwood last month. He swept to the front just over a furlong from home, and pulled clear to win in great style. This improving sprinter is destined to go to the very top, and should prove difficult to beat. At present he is trading at 2.747/4 and I have backed him at that price.
Lady Aurelia is the main danger. This smart filly won the King's Stand Stakes in spectacular fashion in June, and will not go down easily. She has only tasted defeat once in six lifetime starts and her conditioner is bullish about her chances. She must be respected, but the selection has a high cruising speed, and will be ready to pounce when the chips are down.
