Timeform pick out three bets from York and Newmarket on Friday.
Game Starter - 13:55 York
Saeed bin Suroor sent out the winner of this race in 2015 and he saddles two strong candidates in Game Starter and Red Galileo this time round. The latter was arguably unlucky not to finish even closer when runner-up at Ascot last time, and makes appeal off just a 1 lb higher mark, but Game Starter is potentially a pattern-class performer in a handicap and looks the one to side with over this longer trip. Al Neksh, Appeared and Fidaawy are all in with a shout too, however, in a typically competitive handicap.
Thomas Hobson - 14:25 York
On the face of it Thomas Hobson has a bit to find on form with the likes of Dal Harraild and Dartmouth, but his yard landed this with a similar type in 2015 and he could be equal to the task. The 7-y-o was a most impressive winner of the Ascot Stakes at Royal Ascot and would have landed a notable double but for his over-exuberance in the Queen Alexandra four days later. He is fancied to take this step up in class in his stride to give Mullins another win in this race. Dal Harraild was behind Dartmouth at Royal Ascot, but is taken to reverse the placings and emerge as the main danger.
Slow To Hand - 14:40 Newmarket
Slow To Hand is pitched into a much deeper grade of handicap having won a 0-55 at Yarmouth last week, but he was seriously impressive that day and the feeling is he is ahead of his mark turned out under a penalty. That much improved effort came in first-time blinkers, travelling powerfully throughout and well on top at the finish, and granted the headgear has the same effect this time, he should prove hard to beat. Fastar should remain competitive, while Abatement is well handicapped if he can do it on turf.
