There is a cracking Grade 2 at Navan on Friday where the exciting Great Field will make his return

Timeform pick out three bets from Navan on Friday.

"...so could prove a tough nut to crack here..."

I Am Sailing - 13:55 Navan

Point winner I Am Sailing showed plenty to work on in a bumper on Rules debut and also when finishing third in a C&D maiden hurdle last time, going with plenty of enthusiasm. That was his first start since being gelded, and he is expected to come on a bit for that initial jumping experience, so could prove a tough nut to crack here. Savannah Storm also showed ability on his hurdling debut and looks an obvious danger.

Rock de Baune - 15:00 Navan

Judged on his form in France, Rock de Baune sets the standard in this line-up on Timeform ratings, and is perhaps a bigger price than expected, too. He won a juvenile hurdle at Auteuil in October before being bought by J.P. McManus and, though new trainer John E. Kiely hasn't had many runners so far this year, he saddled a winner last Saturday which bodes well. The dangers are headed by the Gordon Elliot-trained pair Roaring Bull and Cartwright.

Great Field - 15:35 Navan

Great Field has been off the track for nearly a year, but he is much better than the rivals he faces today, and won't need to be 100 per cent to make a winning return. He progressed well over fences last season, readily landing a Grade 1 novice chase at Punchestown on his final start, and it will be disappointing if he isn't up to winning this despite an absence. Doctor Phoenix has taken his form to another level since joining Gordon Elliott and looks the biggest danger.
