Timeform pick out bets from Newbury and Newcastle on Friday...

Second Thought - 16:00 Newbury

The William Haggas-trained SECOND THOUGHT enhanced his reputation in defeat when runner-up to Harry Angel in the Sandy Lane Stakes at Haydock in May, and though his subsequent absence is a concern, he's in top hands and, with the return to 7f not an issue, is the pick of these at the weights. Dream of Dreams posted a clear career-best at Lingfield last week on his first try at this trip and is feared, while impressive Newbury maiden winner Princess de Lune is an unknown quantity.

Lamya - 16:35 Newbury

LAMYA, whose sales price rose markedly as a two-year-old, commands plenty of respect after her Windsor success, and with further progress likely looks the one to beat. Her dam stayed well and she herself shapes as if this longer trip will bring about further improvement. Frankel-filly Veracious, whose dam won as a two-year-old, and Hadith, who is equally well-bred, are interesting newcomers, whilst Melodies should improve for her promising debut at Salisbury last month.

Lina's Star - 19:45 Newcastle

LINA'S STAR was better than the result when third on last month's nursery debut, shaping as if 6f would suit, and though she's left Richard Fahey, she has joined another top yard in the form of David O'Meara's Helmsley base. The step back up in trip is in her favour and a mark of 65 looks well within her grasp. Recent Redcar third Fink Hill should have more to offer, while Haydock winner Leeshaan is a definite threat on his best form.
