Alan Dudman struck with 5.609/2 winner Fill The Power in his previous stint a fortnight ago, and he's banking on Mr Singh and My Call on Friday to begin his latest seven day tipping odyssey...
"This 6f maiden doesn't look the strongest, and the make-up of the race certainly won't put me off getting involved with newcomer My Call."
16:00 Goodwood - Mr Singh
I was fortunate enough to have batted against former Indian Test spinner Maninder Singh when he featured for a side called 'The Delhi Blues' back in the early 1990s. I didn't last very long against the twirler to be honest (and I heard the ball fizz as I gloved one to the eager slips), but I'm hoping to have more joy with another Mr Singh on Friday.
This is the feature race on the Sussex downs, and is often a good guide to the St Leger (even though it's framed as a pointer to The Derby). Mr Singh's trainer John Gosden has taken three runnings of this in the past decade - including classic winner Masked Marvel, and the pick could fit that particular profile.
The 3yo landed a Newbury maiden in nice style, coming from behind in a strongly run race to score comfortably. The contest has worked out well, and there's a chance the Godolphin and William Haggas challengers could make the market here for the selection.
16:35 Goodwood - Star Rider
I put this filly up as a short price win selection in my previous stint (head in shame for a 4/6 shot), so I'm delighted she's trading at around 7.06/1 for this 1m4f handicap.
She emphatically dismissed a weak field in a maiden at Chelmsford City, and I think she's fairly treated for this bow from a mark of 80. The price gives some mileage to trade, as she certainly travels well. I wonder with her dropping back in trip, she might be ridden handily? I remember her jockey Hayley Turner pulling off a front-running win on board Viper round here many years ago, same tactics will be perfect again.
Look to lock in a free bet on Star Rider at around 4.216/5 in-play.
This 6f maiden doesn't look the strongest, and the make-up of the race certainly won't put me off getting involved with newcomer My Call.
Firstly, it's a bit of a motley crew here, as older horse maidens can be. There are a pair of exposed looking runners (who hold official marks in the 70s), although Marasim is potentially getting better.
However, if this Godolphin debutant has any ability, he should be in the frame here. His dam has only produced one winner (from three horses), but that was a success as a 3yo.
