Nick Shiambouros returns with a couple of strong fancies from the decent card at Newbury...
"This was his best piece of form to date, and a reproduction of that effort would make him very difficult to beat"
Raheen House sets the standard in this fascinating contest.
This colt rounded off last season with a fourth place finish in the Group 1 Racing Post Trophy behind Rivet. He kept on pretty well in the closing stages, and was not beaten all that far. This was his best piece of form to date, and a reproduction of that effort would make him very difficult to beat. At present he is trading at [4.6] on the exchange which is more than fair.
The current favourite is Shutter Speed who is trading at [2.46]. This filly won a Yarmouth maiden in game fashion last October, and has plenty of scope for improvement. This looks like a pretty decent race and would have to be pretty good to take this. I have little interest in her at that price.
The Jean Genie is my idea of the winner of this interesting maiden.
This filly created a favourable impression on debut when finishing second to Fleabiscuit at Haydock last September. She missed the break, but finished strongly and was gaining on the winner close home. I thought that was a super effort from this well related individual. I think she is open to significant improvement, and is reasonably priced at [5.0] on the exchange. The Cox stable is in decent form which is an added bonus.
There are some beautifully bred fillies in this race and debutant Mori is one of them. She is by Frankel and is out of the multiple Group 1 winning mare Midday. She certainly has the pedigree to take this and it is no surprise to see her trading at [3.35] on the exchange.
