Nick Shiambouros ended his last stint in the tipping chair with a winner at Bangor. Nick hopes to hit the ground running with two winners from Newcastle...
"Trainer Karl Burke has his string in good form at present, and backing his three-year-olds on the all-weather in recent years has yielded a healthy profit"
17:45 Newcastle - Chingachgook
Chingachgook sets the standard in this interesting maiden.
This colt put in a much improved effort when finishing fourth to Maverick Officer at Lingfield last month. He delivered a strong challenge a furlong from home ,but failed to quicken near the finish. This likeable individual should take another step forward and is fairly priced at 3.8514/5 on the exchange.
Completion heads the market at 2.56/4. He finished a creditable third to First Contact over this course on debut and is entitled to improve. He is the main danger but looks short enough.
Debutant Evince merits consideration. She is by New Approach and is out of the veteran mare Prove. She represents high profile connections and may attract support.
18:45 Newcastle - Mayfair Rock
I am going to take a chance with debutant Mayfair Rock in this novice stakes.
This Society Rock filly is related to plenty of winners, and is a half-sister to Van Huysen who has won six races. Trainer Karl Burke has his string in good form at present, and backing his three-year-olds on the all-weather in recent years has yielded a healthy profit. She is currently trading at 8.07/1 on the exchange which is more than fair.
Choice Encounter could give the selection most to do. He was most impressive when beating Our Man In Havana in a handicap at Kempton and clearly has more to offer. I am not certain the return to five furlongs will benefit , but nevertheless deserves his position at the head of the market at 3.02/1.
