Nick Shiambouros returns to the tipping chair with a couple of strong fancies from Newbury...
"He is a half-brother to Listed winner Shamshon, who had enough speed to win a five furlong maiden on debut"
Haggas will have this colt ready
13:50 Newbury - Boerhan
I am going to side with debutant Boerhan in this intriguing maiden.
This well related Sea the Stars colt has plenty of winners in his pedigree. He is a half-brother to Listed winner Shamshon, who had enough speed to win a five furlong maiden on debut. He was an expensive yearling purchase, and presumably looked the part in the ring. Trainer Willie Haggas will have him ready to do himself justice and is attractively priced at 5.39/2 on the exchange.
Fox Premier heads the market at 3.7511/4 on the exchange. This Frankel colt was nicely backed on debut when finishing down the field behind King Of Comedy at Sandown last month. He had a chance two out, but was left well behind when the pace lifted. He is open to improvement, but looks short enough.
Lethal locked and loaded
15:30 Newbury - Lethal Promise
Irish raider Lethal Promise should go close in this interesting Listed contest.
This filly ran creditably when finishing fourth to So Perfect in a Group 3 over six furlongs at the Curragh. She held every chance a furlong from home, but failed to quicken when the chips were down. She had previously won a maiden at Naas in great style over the minimum trip. I think she will appreciate the ease in grade and is fairly priced at 4.57/2 on the exchange.
Heartwarming merits consideration. She won a Sandown maiden with the minimum of fuss and is open to a fair bit of improvement. This is a big step up in class, but I would not rule her out. At present she is trading at 8.88/1 on the exchange which is just about right.
