Timeform pick out their three best bets from Chelmsford on Friday evening...

"...but the evidence from his most recent run suggests it will suit and he looks ready to win again."

Timeform on King Robert

Atyaaf - Chelmsford 18:00

Atyaaf has been something of a slow burner so far, showing only fair form on his first four outings, but he took a big step forward when getting off the mark over C&D last month, making the most of his basement mark and keeping on well to score by over a length. He's well-bred for one at such a lowly level (closely related to Queen Mary winner Maqaasid), meaning a 5 lb rise could prove lenient, and he's fancied to follow up. Red Stripes is pretty consistent at thsi level and should give it a good go off his current mark having hit the frame at Lingfield last week, while Hurricane Alert and Promina were 1-2 at Lingfield last time out and are also considered.

King Robert - Chelmsford 18:30

King Robert caught the eye when finishing second over a furlong further here last month, going like the best horse in the weights and getting to the front in good style before getting run down late on. He's been campaigned almost exclusively at six furlongs since making his debut in 2015, so it is interesting to see him at the minimum trip today, but the evidence from his most recent run suggests it will suit and he looks ready to win again. Primo's Comet arrives at the top of his game at the moment and is respected, while Verne Castle dips in grade sporting a change of headgear.

Lestrade - Chelmsford 19:00

Lestrade showed plenty of promise when fourth on her debut last month despite running green, diving out of the stalls and taking a while to get to grips with his job, but making plenty of ground late on once she managed to get the hang of things, and only finishing beaten by just over a length. He's bred to be useful (half-brother to 2-y-o 1m winner Normandie and useful 11f winner Night of England), and with improvement likely now he's got that initial outing under his belt, he's taken to score. Jack Berry House was a shock winner on debut for Mick Easterby in October but there was no fluke about that success and he can also figure.
