Timeform pick out three bets from the final day of the 2017 May Festival at Chester.
El Hayem - 13:50 Chester
El Hayem didn't make it to the track as a juvenile and he only had four starts as a three year old last season. He made a positive return in the Spring Cup at Newbury last month, doing good work towards the far flank, but leaving the impression in the end there's a few finishing touches still to be put on him. He's a well-connected four-year-old, who looks the one to side with from a good draw. With last year's winner Hillbilly Boy and Calder Prince both poorly drawn, Rene Mathis and Ice Slice look the best each-way alternatives.
Partitia - 15:00 Chester
Things didn't go Partitia's way when returning to action at Sandown last month, an attempt to drop in from the worst draw ultimately not paying off. However, she looked a promising sprinter at two, winning a maiden and a minor event (at this course) before leaving the firm impression she was unsuited by soft ground in a Group 3 at Ayr, so this sturdy filly is well worth another chance. Rich And Famous is going the right way also, though she hasn't fared as well with the draw, while the consistent Tomily is another to consider.
Midterm - 15:35 Chester
The two that stand out are Midterm and US Army Ranger, representing yards which between them have won this race six times since 2007. The former was a one-time favourite for the Derby last year, and he made an encouraging reappearance at Newbury last month, shaping as though this stiffer test would suit. Sir Michael Stoute has a fantastic record with similar types and you can expect Midterm to come on plenty for his Newbury run, so he's fancied to beat Aidan O'Brien's colt, who himself has always carried a lofty reputation.
