The markets have been reviewed, and today's three Follow The Money selections come from the first day's action at the York Ebor Festival...
We start in the 15:05 Great Voltigeur Stakes over 1m4f with our positive selection for the day. Idaho has seen strong support all morning from an early price of 2.021/1 in to 1.804/5. This Aidan O'Brien colt has ran several solid races in defeat in top company. The three-year-old did well to hold on to third in the English Derby after going for home a long way out and then followed that up with an even more impressive run when half a length second in the Irish equivalent a few weeks later. He certainly sets the standard on those runs and may well enjoy the faster going today. A win bet is recommended.
We then move on to the 15:40 Juddmonte International Stakes over 1m 2f and our lay selection, where the Roger Varian-trained Postponed hasn't been as strong in the market as expected, drifting from 2.68/5 out to 2.8615/8. He certainly sets the standard on form after winning the Coronation Cup at Epsom in June but then had to miss the King George with a respiratory infection, the yard are having a bit of a quiet spell and are not sending out too many runners at present. He will need to prove himself at a shorter trip and with four other Group 1 winners in the field we are happy to take on Postponed.
For our each-way selection we move on to the 16:20 2m Handicap and the Alan King-trained Oceane has seen positive support in to 7.613/2 from 8.58. This four-year-old looked in rude health when scoring at Ascot last month over 1m6f and followed that up when third over 2m5f at Goodwood, where he had to wait for a clear run and finished strongly. He is evidently on the upgrade and should be able to run in to the places if not going one better.
Back Idaho @ 1.84/5 in the York 15:05
Lay Postponed @ 2.8615/8 in the York 15:40
