Today's Follow The Money comes exclusively from the final day of the Ebor festival at York.
"This experienced gelding from the Iain Jardine yard is a course and distance winner having won comfortably here in June and apprentice jockey Clifford Lee claims seven pounds to aid his cause today."
We start with the 14:15 Strensall Stakes where we find our first positive of the day. The Sir Michael Stoute-trained Diploma is currently trading at 4.1 having seen plenty of support in from an early price of 5.59/2. This three-year-old is returning to the track having won last time here in a fillies' Listed race last month. That made it three wins in her last five starts and while today's slightly shorter trip will be a test she looks the class horse in the field. With this morning's strong market support we are recommending a back.
Next up we have our lay of the day in the Gimcrack Stakes at 15:25, in which we are opposing Blue Point who has drifted out to 3.185/40 from 2.767/4. This two-year-old colt was last seen being edged out by a neck when an odds-on favourite at Goodwood last month. All three of his runs to date have been on good to firm ground and with the current going good with more rain expected he looks one to oppose.
Finally, our each-way back runs in the 16:00 Ebor Handicap where we are recommending Shrewd. He has been well-backed all morning in a competitive field and is now trading at 14.013/1 from an initial price of 18.017/1. This experienced gelding from the Iain Jardine yard is a course and distance winner having won comfortably here in June and apprentice jockey Clifford Lee claims seven pounds to aid his cause today. He is certainly worth an each-way bet.
