Day one of the Punchestown Festival is the venue for two of today's Follow The Money selections while the each-way recommendation runs at Yarmouth...
We start with our each-way selection in the 14:45 Yarmouth, a 1m 2f Handicap. Celebration Day has been backed steadily overnight from a high of 8.007/1 into 5.004/1. This Raven's Pass Filly made a winning return to action at Chelmsford just over a month ago and a repeat performance will see him go close. Although off a 5lb higher mark for winning George Wood takes a valuable 5lb off in the saddle.
We move across the pond to Punchestown for their festival. Our back selection comes in their first race the 15:40, a 3m Chase. Enniskillen has been one of the best backed horses this morning coming from 5.004/1 into 3.6013/5. In this open looking race we think if Enniskillen is anywhere near his best he will take some beating. A creditable third in a hunter chase in Gowran Park was his prep run and with the market speaking volumes and the best amateur jockey on board in Mr J.J Codd we think he will get us off to a good start at Punchestown.
We stay in Punchestown for our Lay selection. It comes in the 17:30 race which is the Grade 1 Champion Chase. God's Own has been very weak in the market drifting from 6.6011/2 out to 10.5019/2. We suggest laying God's Own in the Two to be Placed market at 3.505/2. He was out of form a few weeks ago in Aintree and this looks like a very good race where he will not get things to suit him. With the likes of Un De Sceaux and Fox Norton and many others in the mix we think this is the smartplay.
Back Celebration Day each-way @ 5.004/1 in the 14:45 Yarmouth
Back Enniskillen @ 3.6013/5 in the 15:40 Punchestown
Lay God's Own in the Two to be Placed Market @ 3.505/2 in the 17:30 Punchestown
