Today's Follow The Money comes from the meetings at Wolverhampton and Pontefract.
" Hurricane Rush has been all the rage in the 16:55, his price has been contracting all morning from 6.05/1 in to 3.412/5 and we feel the market confidence will be rewarded this afternoon."
Our first positive is in the first race at Wolverhampton (14:15) where Born To Finish has been well supported all morning from an early 12.68 in to 7.413/2. This Jeremy Gask-trained three-year-old is still a maiden after eight outings, often spoiling his chances with slow starts and although he carries top weight this afternoon we feel that the first time blinkers should help him concentrate on the task in hand. The market confidence indicates we will see a bolder showing from our selection and as long as he doesn't get too detached from his opponents early doors, we expect to see him running on to good effect to at least reach a place.
Moving over to the 14:35 at Pontefract, where Scofflaw has been easy to back and has seen his price drift from 2.3211/8 out to 3.02/1. This conditions race is an interesting heat and we feel it is worth taking on the Richard Fahey-trained juvenile this afternoon. He was a 20/1 surprise winner on debut at Chester last month and despite beating a couple of more experienced runners that day he may struggle to repeat that success with the very promising Love Dreams in opposition, who also made a successful debut at Hamilton two weeks ago. Also in the field is the maiden Bolt Phantom, well backed this morning, who ran a promising second on his debut before taking his chance at Royal Ascot last week. He will find today's race a lot easier and may also prove a danger to our lay selection.
We return to Wolverhampton for our main win bet. Hurricane Rush has been all the rage in the 16:55, his price has been contracting all morning from 6.05/1 in to 3.412/5 and we feel the market confidence will be rewarded this afternoon. The Charles Hill-trained two-year-old made a pleasing debut at Newbury earlier this month, he started slowly and was allowed to come home in his own time (finishing less than four lengths behind the winner). He will know a lot more about the game following that introduction and we expect to see a huge improvement from this well-regarded colt this afternoon.
