Back Lungarno Palace @ 4.57/2 in the 14:45 at Epsom

Lay Future Empire @ 3.1511/5 in the 15:20 at Epsom

Back American Artist @ 2.982/1 in the 17:05 at Epsom

We start off in the 14:45 where Lungarno Palace is well found at the top of the market, the price shortening from 5.85/1 in to 4.57/2. A strong third at Epsom last year will catch the eye of many with course form invaluable but perhaps even more eye-catching is his previous run. A solid fifth behind Mica Mika (who has won again since) on his turf reappearance, he was staying on strongly at the finish which would suggest today's step up in trip should suit. He remains on a competitive handicap mark and hopefully he will be able to prove today that, if a horse is good enough, hold-up tactics can be pulled off successfully at Epsom.

We head to the 15:20 for today's lay in the shape of Godolphin's Future Empire, after a drift from 2.89/5 to 3.1511/5. This looks an intriguing Derby trial with the market headed by the John Gosden-trained Christophermarlowe who is a shade of odds on. If the Derby antepost market is to be believed the latter is regarded as the superior horse, trading at 25.024/1 to back, with Future Empire at 70.069/1. The favourite also has an Epsom win to his name with Future Empire un-raced at the course. Christophermarlowe looks less exposed, even at this early stage, holding an unbeaten record and Future Empire has been beaten in a Group 3 which may suggest that if the favourite is as good as we are told he is, he may just be out-classed by today's rival.

Finally to the 17:05 where the Roger Varian-trained American Artist has seen strong support from 3.7511/4 in to 2.982/1. This looks a fairly strong looking handicap but if we have a look at the form of the favourite it is easy to see why he is well supported. His recent win at Goodwood has worked out very well: third placed Frognal Bear has won since off of a mark of 74, while second placed Quick Defence was a strong runner-up at Lingfield to a rival who has won well off of 77 since. American Artist's opening mark of 77 looks very generous in that context and a back is the call.
