The all-weather meeting at Wolverhampton and the Flat card at Pontefract are the venues for today's three Follow The Money selections...
We kick off proceedings with Hagree in the 13:45 at Wolverhampton, backed from 8.88/1 in to 3.953/1 The Declan Carroll trained gelding has slipped down in the handicap dramatically - contesting in 11 races without victory, subsequently going down 26lbs in the handicap. However, connections clearly feel he is back at the right level after sustained market support. The four-year-old son of Haatef was last seen running a respectable race in a competitive event at Newcastle earlier in the month. With the combination of a switch back to an all-weather surface and a step down in class, he may just be able to outclass his rivals this afternoon.
Our negative comes in the 14:00 at Pontefract in the shape of Sixth Sense. The lay was matched as short as 1.834/5 in the early exchanges but has taken a walk out to 2.0421/20. Having finished third on both starts to date - he's not looked the quickest over the minimum trip. His pedigree suggests he will be better over further in time.
In what looks a winnable Fillies Handicap Pleasant Valley has been subject to solid support this morning, shortening from 2.8815/8 in to 2.3811/8 The Luca Cumani charge looks to hold all the cards in Pontefract's 15:45 contest. After showing promise in her first three maidens, she went on to win on her next two starts at Doncaster. The four-year-old Shamardal filly wasn't disgraced in Listed company the following month. With that in mind she looks well ahead of her mark, and at this rate her connections will be eyeing up some black type sooner rather than later. She is, after all, a half-sister to eight winners, five of whom have already achieved that distinction.
