Follow The Money: Go into battle with War Department at Carlisle
Welcome to today's Follow The Money which comes from Uttoxeter and Carlisle...
First up we have our negative in the 14:00 novice hurdle at Uttoxeter, where we are opposing Ivors Queen who has taken a walk out to [1.67] from an early price of [1.5]. This seven-year-old mare made all the running last time out to win at Newton Abbot, however this morning there has been a notable drift on her. This could partly be down to the strong market support for main rival Whatsthatallabout, who has jockey Noel Fehily in the saddle who boasts a respectable 23% course strike rate. With this in mind we shall be laying Ivors Queen today.
Next up we head to Carlisle for the 15:15 handicap over one mile three furlongs. Here we will be backing Sennockian Star who was been heavily backed in to [3.6] from [5.5]. This Mark Johnston-trained gelding has seen big early money come for him this morning. Whilst his results have not been much to shout about over the last year he did show promise when coming third earlier this month at Ascot. He is running off his reduced mark and with such strong support he is impossible to ignore. We will be backing him today.
Staying at Carlisle we have our each way back in the 17:30 handicap race where we shall be recommending War Department. This three-year-old has been encouragingly backed this morning and is now trading at [7.8] from an initial price of [12.0]. He makes his debut today for trainer Keith Dalgleish and we will be hoping the change of yard will also bring a change of fortunes. He has dropped down the weights recently and over today's preferred trip we shall be going for an each-way bet.
Lay Ivors Queen @ [1.67] in the 14:00 at Uttoxeter
Back Sennockian Star @ [3.7] in the 15:15 at Carlisle
Back War Department Each-Way @ [8.0] in the 17:30 at Carlisle
