Follow The Money: Primrose Valley an each-way shout at Ascot
This afternoon's Follow The Money comes from the meetings at Uttoxeter and Ascot...
Firstly we head to Uttoxeter for our first positive of the day in the 13:40 2m4f Maiden Hurdle. Our selection is the well-supported Ethelwyn who has moved from [3.0] in to [2.42]. Runner up on her last two starts to date, Malcolm Jefferson`s mare sets the standard today, after pulling clear last time at Cartmel but just getting touched off near the finish. The jockey booking of Brain Hughes looks a bonus as he has ridden this horse ten times and we wouldn't be surprised if he were to steer her to victory today.
Staying at Uttoxeter for our negative selection of the day in the 16:25 2m Handicap Chase, where Ulis De Vassy has drifted from [2.0] out to [2.30]. A win last time out over fences at Market Rasen looks solid form, especially after bolting up by 14 lengths. But turning back out quickly under a penalty might not be ideal today and with the in-form Sleep In First reverting back to fences, we can see why punters want to take him on at a short price.
Finally over to 16:35 at Ascot for a very competitive 5f Handicap where our each way selection is Primrose Valley, a horse that has moved from [18.5] in to [10.0]. Out of form until bursting back to life at Newmarket last time where she was unable stay with the winner, she landed a creditable second all the same. She looks well-in under Josephine Gordon today as she claims three pounds, and with a clear run it wouldn't be a surprise to see Primrose Valley in the money.
