Today's Follow The Money comes exclusively from Day One of the Eastern Meeting Festival at Yarmouth...
"With huge market support and being closely related to a couple of decent performers, including the 1m Listed winner Etaab we are happy to support Farsakh."
We begin with our first positive which comes in the 14:50 1m Nursery where Cartago has seen steady support, moving in to 2.3411/8 from an early price of 2.77/4. This John Gosden-trained two-year-old has had a promising start to his career having claimed an impressive win also over a mile at Windsor last time out. That victory was over good ground so today's going should suit. Cartago looks very hard to beat under his 6lb penalty and with added market confidence we are recommending a back.
Our second back bet runs in the 15:20 Maiden Stakes race over 6f. Farsakh is trading at 2.568/5 having started at an initial price of 3.89. It is concerning that this well-bred William Haggas filly is only now having her debut very late on in the three year old season. However, with huge market support and being closely related to a couple of decent performers, including the 1m Listed winner Etaab we are happy to support Farsakh. It's not the strongest race on paper and it would be no surprise if the newcomer is able to win it.
Finally we have our lay which goes in the last race of the day, the 17:20 1m6f Handicap, where we are opposing Blue Chip after a drift out to 4.77/2 from an initial price of 3.7511/4. Being the daughter of Galileo, this John Gosden three-year-old filly is very well-bred, but she has looked rather one-paced in maidens. She is very well handicapped for her first race but the lack of market support, and accompanying support for Injun Sands, makes Blue Chip our lay of the day.
