Today's Follow The Money comes from this afternoon's meetings at Nottingham and Newcastle...
We start the day with the 15:00 2m Handicap at Newcastle where Hurry Home Poppa has received good support throughout the morning, opening up at 5.24/1 and coming in to 3.9. This five-year-old gelding has been nothing but consistent finishing off last year season with a win at Redcar and following up with two placed efforts this year. He was Last seen at Nottingham when making smooth headway through the field and keeping on strongly to take a good second. Hurry Home Poppa will surely appreciate the step up in trip today and make it win number one this year.
Over to Nottingham for the 15:30 1m2f handicap where today's negative is Melodious, after a drift out from 2.255/4 to 2.8815/8. David Elsworth's three-year-old filly has been in good form just getting up last time here at Nottingham but she's up another two furlongs today which could be putting off the punters. Add in the potential improvers in the race, Elle Shade from the John Gosden yard and the strong front running Triple Dip, and we have plenty of reasons to oppose.
Back to Newcastle for the 16:50 7f Handicap where David Barron's Free Code has been well backed from 6.611/2 into a solid 4.57/2. This four-year-old gelding found life difficult last time in a class two event at Newmarket only finishing 10th but there were 22 runners that day and he wasn't disgraced running well in a big field. This drop in class today will surely give Free Code every chance in this smaller field so we are confident for a good run.
