Today's Follow The Money comes from the meetings at Redcar and Lingfield...
Starting off with our negative in the 16:30 6f Claiming Stakes at Redcar, where Haajes has drifted out to 3.1511/5 from a low of 2.427/5. With 15 wins from 113 starts under his belt, this 11-year-old by Indian Ridge has certainly earned his keep but all those wins have come over the minimum trip. And although he was successful last time out over 5f at Redcar in a seller, he looks worth taking on today at 3.052/1, with tough opposition including course and distance winner Whispered Times.
Heading to Lingfield for our first positive in the 16:35 1m2f Handicap, where Silver Dixie has seen noticeable support in to 5.14/1 from a high of 14.013/1. This five-year-old gelding has won two races in his career so far, from 23 starts, but the most recent win was in July 2013 and since then Peter Hedger's runner has been placed at best. Being out of form has resulted in Silver Dixie's handicap mark dropping down to the mark of his first win, which was also over today's course and distance. The market support suggests a return to the winner's enclosure after a five-month break.
Returning to Redcar for the final mover, where there has been a dramatic move for The Fulwell End, in to 10.519/2 from a high of 24.023/1 in the 17:00 1m Handicap. Noel Wilson's gelding is having his first start in a handicap, having been well beaten in three maidens from 5-7f last year. However, this has resulted in a lowly mark of 45, and this three-year-old by Amadeus Wolf's pedigree suggests he should appreciate the step up in trip. The Fulwell End has also been gelded over the winter and the market move implies he has improved a great deal in this time.
