Wolverhampton is the venue for today's two market positives while we move over to Ludlow for the lay of the day courtesy of the Follow The Money team...
We start at Wolverhampton for our first positive move in the 15:15 6f Handicap where Subversive has been supported in to [2.94] from a high of [4.7].
Subversive's only win came here at Wolverhampton in a maiden over today's distance back in September 2014. Subversive has had two subsequent runs in handicap company in 2014 finishing third of five and fifth of nine and comes back to the track after a 154 day break and a gelding operation. Trainer Mark Johnson is also starting to fire on all cylinders with a 29% strike rate over the last 14 days and with the combination of Joe Fanning in the saddle we can see why this horse is a positive mover in the market.
Our next positive market mover comes in the 15:50 Wolverhampton 1m 4f Handicap where Charlie Appleby saddles Godolphin's Rosenbaum. This three-year-old gelding has been supported in to [2.84] from an early price of [4.0].
Rosenbaum has not troubled the judge in four starts and is now having his second run in handicap company. Dropped 4lbs in the weights and upped an extra 2f since its first and only handicap run, we feel the horse has everything in his favour to win this weak looking race for an in-form Appleby yard (11 wins from 19 runners over the last 14 days for a 58% strike rate).
We switch codes and go to Ludlow for today's last selection and lay of the day. Mountain King runs in the 16:05 for trainer Philip Hobbs and is having only his third run over fences.
Drifting from an early price of [2.6] to a current price of [2.82] this six-year-old gelding has top weight to carry and going on his last two runs is still learning the game over the bigger obstacles. Support in the market for both Arkaim, [6.0] in to [4.6], and Kudu County, [9.6] in to [7.2,] and with Swaledale Lad likely to front run we feel Mountain King's jumping may be exposed again and is therefore today's lay.
