Today's Follow The Money selections run at Brighton, The Curragh and Deauville

"James Fanshawe sends Ribbons across the English Channel to contest the Group One Prix Jean Romanet at 15:10 and has been backed in from 5.14/1 the mare is currently trading 4.03/1. She took this race last year and has exactly the same conditions today."

Back Ribbons @ 4.03/1 in the 15:10 at Deauville

We kick off at Brighton with our first positive. We've seen some good money for Smoothtalkinrascal in the 14:50, a Handicap over five furlongs, with Peter Crate's five-year-old backed in from 9.28/1 in to 6.25/1. Maybe not the force he was as a three-year-old, he's been sliding down the weights recently. However, it wasn't long ago he picked up a class two handicap off a mark of 105. He runs in a class four here off a mark of 82 but if you can forgive his last run where he was well beaten on testing ground at Ascot his form hasn't been too shoddy this season. He was sixth in the Epsom dash and wasn't beaten far by Mark Johnson trained Midlander at Sandown; a horse that went on to rack up a hat-trick. With all this in mind 6.25/1 is a cracking price and we recommend backing Smoothtalkinrascal to get back to winning ways.

There's an excellent card at Deauville today with group races galore and a British raider has been attracting significant support this morning. James Fanshawe sends Ribbons across the English Channel to contest the Group One Prix Jean Romanet at 15:10 and has been backed in from 5.14/1 the mare is currently trading 4.03/1. She took this race last year and has exactly the same conditions today. It's maybe a stronger field for the renewal but she's been in fine fettle this season. Her third in the Pretty Polly at The Curragh where she was narrowly beaten by Aiden O'Brien's Diamondsandrubies looks like the standout piece of form and with 1000 Guineas and Nassau Stakes winner Legatissimo in second that day, Ribbons should take all the beating here.

Our lay runs in the 15:40 at The Curragh, a Group two over seven furlongs. Shogun has been easy to back this morning - matched as low as 1.855/6 Aiden O'Brien's colt is currently available to back at 2.47/5. With one of his main market rivals and stable mate Air Vice Marshal out of the race, the drift is a bit alarming. A well-backed favourite on his debut over course and distance, he was very disappointing finishing in seventh. He then redeemed himself when he scored at the second time of asking, again over course and distance. The form of the race matches him closely with Herald The Dawn and it looks like punters are opting for the Bolger colt. With the ground surely going to be testing you can't rule out Now Or Never either so we are happy to take on Shogun with two lively contenders running for us.
