The markets have been reviewed, and today's three Follow The Money selections come from the meetings at Pontefract and Uttoxeter...
We start with our lay of the day in the first race at Pontefract, the 14:20 5f Maiden Stakes where Mayfair Lady has drifted from a low of 2.56/4 out to 3.1511/5.
Although Richard Fahey's filly showed improvement last time out when headed late to finish second at Newbury the market has neglected her chances in favour of the Godolphin owned Fast Enough. Saeed Bin Suroor's colt has yet to justify previous market support but today's drop to a stiff 5f should suit. Emerald Bay has also received market support for William Haggis adding to our confidence that Mayfair lady will be beat again today.
Staying at Pontefract for the 6f Handicap at 16:35 where Compton Park has shortened from 7.413/2 in to 5.59/2.
Winner of this race last year he probably need the run on his recent reappearance. With a return to this course and distance sure to suit, a yard in form, Silvestre de Sousa on board, who has a 24% strike rate here at Pontefract (43-179), and strong market support, we are happy to recommend backing him today.
Over to Uttoxeter for their last race, the 2m Handicap Hurdle at 17:50, where there has been interesting market support for Rye House, 5.76 in to 3.55.
The Tim Vaughan-trained gelding is still looking to transfer his impressive flat ability, where he won twice for Sir Michael Stoute, over to the hurdles. He has a tongue-tie on again today which may help. Richard Johnson is on board and this trainer and jockey combination has an impressive 20% strike rate (14-71) when teaming up at Uttoxeter, hopefully this all points to Rye House opening his hurdles account today.
