Today's Follow The Money comes from the meetings at Kempton and Carlisle.
"Vice Et Vertu promises to stay this far and today's cheekpieces could be the key to unlocking improvement and the market is suggesting a bold show is on the cards."
We begin with the 14:50 1m Listed race at Kempton where Lady Dutch has been the subject of strong support this morning, moving into a price of 3.7511/4 from an early 5.04/1. She had the dream start to her UK career with a course and distance win for Marco Botti. Tracking the leaders and making a winning decisive move two furlongs out, with a winning margin of 2¾ lengths over the 110 rated Baltic Knight. Lady Dutch looks to have even more improvement to come and with the yard ticking along nicely, looks sure to go well.
Today's negative comes in the 13:40 5f Mdn Stks at Kempton where Anwar has been easy to back, out to 2.747/4 having been matched as low as 2.0621/20 earlier this morning. Anwar was sent off a well-backed favourite for her debut over course and distance last Saturday but bumped into a useful looking sort of Mark Johnston's. There is no reason why she won't come on for the run and give her running but today's assignment looks a little bit tougher. In opposition is yet another Mark Johnston 2yo in the shape of Tawakkol, who has been supported this morning, as well as Just the Lord who ran a credible forth in the Brocklesby with that form franked at yesterday's Musselburgh meeting.
Our final selection comes in the 16:05 3m1f Handicap Hurdle at Carlisle where Vice Et Vertu has been backed from 7.413/2 in to 4.84/1. This 6yo former Bumper winner won his first two starts over hurdles last year and was in the process of matching his winning novice form when falling at Warwick in January having travelled well. He promises to stay this far and today's cheekpieces could be the key to unlocking improvement and the market is suggesting a bold show is on the cards.
