The markets have been reviewed, and today's three Follow The Money selections come from the meetings at Newmarket and Ripon...
There is little movement in the markets for today's Group races at Newmarket but a clear favourite has emerged from the 34 runners vying for the Cambridgeshire at 15:50. Irish-raider Portage has come in from 12.5 to 9.28/1 this morning as backers latch onto the relatively unexposed 3yo. We can expect improvement on his last run, where he finished second in the Irish Cambridgeshire but he'll need luck in running too, with plenty of hardened campaigners racing to the right of him.
Aljuljalah shows up in the 16:25 at Newmarket, attracting support from 9.28/1 to 6.25/1. Roger Varian is one of a bunch of top Newmarket trainers pitching a newcomer into this 7 furlong maiden fillies race. No doubt, many will prove useful but the money suggests Aljuljalah may be ready to score first time.
We're off to Ripon for our lay, where Pecking Order has been weak in the 16:50 betting, sliding from 2.588/5 to 3.55. There won't be many quick types in this mile and a half maiden but the powerful in-form John Gosden stable send Nigel who, stepping back from handicap company, appeals as a more likely winner than James Fanshawe's Pecking Order, who has found little at the business end of her three races.
