Today's Follow The Money comes from the meetings at Ripon and Sandown.
Our lay of the day runs in the 14:15 at Ripon where First Bombardment has been easy to back, out to 3.052/1 from an early 2.427/5. Runner-up in the Brocklesby on debut, he again ran well to be second next time out at Musselburgh and sets the standard here but his form is by no means insurmountable. Risk Adjusted also ran well on debut and is bound to improve for the run and there has been support for newcomers Sing Something and Excessable. We feel we have enough running for us to get First Bombardment beaten today.
Next up is the 14:50 1m Handicap at Ripon where King Torus has been backed from 4.84/1 in to 2.6213/8. The selection came to hand early last season when in the care of Ruth Carr and he has again started the season brightly, running a decent sixth in the Spring Mile on his second start for David O'Meara. Today's assignment is less competitive and as a previous course-and-distance winner who relishes fast turf, this 7yo has his optimum conditions this afternoon.
Moving on to the 15:15 A P McCoy Celebration Chase at Sandown, Somersby has been steadily backed from 8.615/2 in to 7.06/1. The likeable 11yo has been as consistent as they come over the years and seldom runs a bad race. He has a good record at Sandown - his form figures read 1222 - which is a huge asset at a track where jumping is of the essence. Somersby is also arguably the form horse in the race with his second places in the Tingle Creek and the Champion Chase reading well in this context and although he tends to find one too good, this perhaps represents his easiest opportunity for a while.
