On the final day of Royal Ascot, the Follow The Money team provide three selections for you to consider...
Today's negative comes in the opening race at 14:30 where Somewhat is weak in the market and has drifted out from 4.3100/30 to 6.25/1. An impressive winner on his debut at Musselburgh last week where he won by seven lengths after being well backed and looks to have a major chance of adding to that win for trainer Mark Johnston. This race is full of promising juveniles and punters are hoping a couple of progressive rivals will be too good for him today.
In the Group 1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes at 15:45, Slade Power has been backed from 16.015/1 in to 13.012/1. Trainer Edward Lynam's lightly raced sprinter was successful on three occasions last season winning two listed events, he was a little disappointing last October when beaten over C&D in a Group 2, although he was drawn in stall two that day and all the action happened away from him. He is effective on any surface, remains unexposed and with the stable in good from this Dutch Art colt could run well today.
The Wokingham Handicap at 16:25 provides our next selection and Rex Imperator has been supported from 13.5 in to 11.010/1. His form figures do not inspire much confidence with only two wins from 13 runs, although he does have some decent form. Previously trained by Roger Charlton and David Nicholls, he is having his second run for William Haggas today and made an eye catching run at Doncaster earlier this month finishing runner up having travelled strongly throughout the race. His record over six furlong is 2121450 and handles fast ground, so the positive move for him suggests he could surprise a few today.
