Today's Follow The Money comes from the meetings at Redcar and Leicester...
Starting at Leicester and the 6f Handicap at 15:00, where Nassuvian Pearl has been supported from 11.010/1 into 8.07/1. After upsetting the odds on debut in a 6f maiden at Kempton last September, we feel Ralph Becket's three-year-old could go well again and looks a smart each-way bet at 8.07/1. Although looking awkward when leaving stalls last time out at Chelmsford, a hood going on and a big drop in Class are positives in our favour.
Staying at Leicester for our negative of the day in the 5f Novice Stakes at 16:30 where Ardad has drifted out from 2.8815/8 to 4.03/1. The two-year-old colt and sister to smart 6f winner Ruby Rocket is respected on debut but comes up against stiff opposition from Bolt Phantom, ridden by Silvestre De Sousa, who looks extremely promising and speedy youngster Full Intention, who only just lost out on his debut at Windsor. With a lack of experience and drift in price, we are happy to oppose the John Gosden-trained colt.
Over to Redcar in the 17:55 6f Maiden Handicap where Giant Spark has been backed in from 4.03/1 into 3.185/40. The selection has decent form over 6f handicaps, most notably finishing third off a similar mark in November as well as a respectable fifth of 15 at Thirsk in a much stronger 6f handicap three weeks ago. With Simon Walker in saddle and off a 1lb lower mark, we expect the lightly raced four-year-old to see off main rivals Poolstock and Compton River, so a back is the call.
Back Nassuvian Pearl Each Way @ 8.07/1 in the 15:00 at Leicester
Lay Ardad @ 4.03/1 in the 16:30 at Leicester
Back Giant Spark @ 3.185/40 in the 17:55 at Redcar
