Follow The Money: Linguine an unappetising selection at Plumpton

Today's Follow The Money movers come from the meetings at Plumpton and Wolverhampton.

"This represents a significant drop in class for Amazement, and with the yard in form, the weight of money suggests this contest will just be a springboard to bigger and better things for the selection."

Back Amazement @ 2.9215/8 in the 17:00 at Wolverhampton

Other Recommended Bets
Back Kinari each-way @ 4.84/1 in the 15:15 at Plumpton
Lay Linguine @ 3.02/1 in the 15:45 at Plumpton

We start at Plumpton where Kinari has been strongly supported from 7.613/2 in to 4.84/1 for the 3m1f Handicap Chase at 15:15. He rates a confident each-way selection. Peter Bowen looks to have found a nice opportunity for his six-year-old to get off the mark. The gelding runs off only 89 here having raced at Worcester last September on a mark of 107. Admittedly his recent form has been mediocre but he handles soft ground and if the use of first-time headgear brings about an improvement then the selection could easily take advantage of such a lenient rating. The stable has sent out a couple of winners in the last fortnight and the Bowen family could well be celebrating once again this afternoon.

Staying at Plumpton for the following 15:45 2m4f Maiden Hurdle in which Linguine has weakened out to 3.02/1 from 2.255/4. Seamus Durack's six-year-old was once rated 90 on the flat but does not totally convince over hurdles. Last time at Huntingdon the selection set out to make all and looked in control until making a mistake two out, he was then unable to rally and finished well beaten. This will be a hard slog through the mud and there has to be a doubt whether he will show the necessary fortitude in such conditions and so might struggle to get the better of the well-backed Champagne George.

Finally to Wolverhampton and in their closing 17:00 1m1f Maiden Stakes Amazement is the one for money, now trading at 2.9215/8 after previously being available at 6.86/1. James Tate's well-related three-year-old was only eighth on racecourse debut at Chelmsford but is related to several winners and should not be a maiden for long. The colt was actually in touch for most of the way at Chelmsford before fading and should have learned plenty for that experience, while there have been positive reports from the Newmarket gallops since. This represents a significant drop in class, and with the yard in form, the weight of money suggests this contest will just be a springboard to bigger and better things for the selection.
