The markets have been reviewed and today's three Follow The Money selections come from the meetings at Bath and Nottingham...
We start the day with our negative in the 14:35 1m Handicap at Nottingham, where Mr Pickwick has drifted out to 3.711/4 from a low of 2.166/5. This maiden by Mount Nelson has finished unplaced in his five starts so far, showing little in maidens, but then some ability in two handicaps back in October last year. However, James Fanshawe's four-year-old was a beaten 6/4f on his most recent start and connections have resulted to gelding him and trying the hood today to bring about some improvement. Today he faces the much more consistent Belle Travers and we are happy to oppose Mr Pickwick at 3.711/4.
Heading to Bath for the first positive in the 15:55 1m2f Handicap, where Shabbah has been backed in to 3.412/5 from a high of 5.79. Sir Michael Stoute's colt by Sea The Stars has had three starts so far in maidens over 7f-1m finishing unplaced at big odds. Shabbah's pedigree suggests this step up in trip will suit and this three-year-old, who cost 200,000gns as a yearling, looks a tempting back off a lowly mark of 60 and bottom weight today.
Staying at Bath for the EW back in the 16:30 1m3f Maiden, where there has been noticeable support for the only newcomer in the race Ma Peek, from a high of 13.5 in to 8.27/1. This three-year-old colt by Arch has winners in his pedigree and comes here highly respected with an entry in the Derby. The market support suggests he has a great chance of winning this race on debut for trainer Brian Meehan who has a strike rate at the track of 31% (11 wins from 35 starts) in the last five seasons.
Lay Mr Pickwick @ 3.711/4 in the 14:35 @ Nottingham
Back Shabbah @ 3.412/5 in the 15:55 @ Bath
Back Ma Peek @ 8.27/1 EW in the 16:30 @ Bath
