Follow The Money: Back Bristol De Mai to deliver at Uttoxeter
Welcome to today's Follow The Money which comes from Newmarket and Uttoxeter...
Our first stop on this Friday's Follow the Money is Newmarket, where the David Elsworth-trained colt Justice Good has been on the drift from [2.2] out to [3.15]. Lacking any real form recently when competing in a higher grade, Justice Good is looking for his first win since June, which has subsequently been followed up by a no better finish than fourth. Although now dropping in grade he will be ridden for the first time today by jockey Graham Lee who is without a win in 16 runs, and we feel this sequence of blanks may well continue today.
We do not travel far in distance nor in time for our next selection of the day. In the 14:35 1m4f Hcap at Newmarket, Moonrise Landing has been backed in heavily from a high [17.0] into [9.4]. With trainer Ralph Beckett currently in good form, holding a 29% strike rate in the last 14 days and a 40% strike rate at Newmarket in 3yo+ Handicaps since the beginning of the year, we feel this gamble may well be worth following in a race that seems quite open.
Our final selection of the day is slightly farther afield in the 15:00 2m Beg Chs at Uttoxeter. Bristol De Mai has been backed in from [3.25] into [2.82] in what appears to be a two-horse race. After being one of last year's leading juvenile hurdlers, this year has not been so kind to the Nigel Twiston-Davies-trained horse. Two thirds and a second have greeted Bristol De Mai so far this year, one of which was at the hand of his main opponent today - a fellow French horse Garde La Victoire. French niceties will have to be left in the stable when these two fight it out on course where we feel Bristol De Mai may just find his winning chasing debut under jockey Daryl Jacobs, a man who boasts a solid 20% strike rate at Uttoxeter.
