Today's Follow The Money selections come from meetings at Musselburgh and Chepstow...

"There has been sustained support from 6.86/1 into 4.57/2 since the markets opened, and providing he builds on his last run Imperial Bay looks to be great value."

Back Imperial Bay @ 4.57/2 in the 15:50 at Chepstow

Recommended Bets
Back Caius Marcius each-way @ 8.415/2 in the 14:25 at Musselburgh
Lay Gardiners Hill @ 2.8615/8 in the 16:25 at Chepstow

Our first selection is in the 14:25 at Musselburgh where Caius Marcius is expected to put in a bold performance after an impressive handicap debut second at the start of December. This unexposed six-year-old has only been out of the places once in seven career starts and excuses can be made that day as it was only his second run and he took a huge step up in class to a class one event. He is versatile on any going, winning on both good and soft, and back down in class today over a trip where his form figures read 2121 - combined with early market support - means we fully expect Caius Marcius to be making the places at the very least.

Today's win selection comes from the 15:50 at Chepstow we are taking a chance on the lightly raced Imperial Bay. Only his second start, but the Ben Pauling-trained five-year-old was running on well when finishing eight lengths fourth on his debut. It seemed like he would be suited by a step up in trip and he gets that today with the extra two furlongs looking like they could bring out further improvement. There has been sustained support from 6.86/1 into 4.57/2 since the markets opened, and providing he builds on his last run Imperial Bay looks to be great value.

Today's lay selection is in the final race of the day at Chepstow. Gardiners Hill has drifted from an early price of 2.1211/10 out to 2.8615/8. Having won readily last time out he now has a 7lb penalty to contend with and is running off a career high mark. A closer look at the form has seen all of his wins come over a distance of three miles, and we feel that this substantially shorter trip may be on the sharp side, as he has only finished in the places once when racing between 2m and 2m4f. This, combined with the penalty and the lack of market support, suggest that he is up against it today.
