Back Mothers Finest @ 6.611/2 in the 14:45 @ Redcar

Lay Nicolas Chauvin @ 2.186/5 in the 16:40 @ Huntingdon

Back Penn Lane @ 3.9 in the 17:50 @ Huntingdon

Starting the day at Redcar with our first positive in the 14:45 1m Maiden Stakes, where Mothers Finest has been receiving steady support in to 6.611/2 from a high of 8.415/2.

This three-year-old filly by Tamayuz is having her first start today and could well be set to move on to better things with her entry in the Irish 1000 Guineas. Karl Burke's runner cost 70,000 euros and has winners in her pedigree, including half-sister debutant winner Dame Lucy and Irish Listed and US Grade 3 winner Coney Kitty. Mothers Finest also comes from the same family as, previously owned by connections, Libertarian, so the market support looks significant today.

Heading to Huntingdon for our lay of the day in the 16:40 2m Novices Hurdle, where Nicolas Chauvin has drifted out to 2.186/5 from a low of 1.845/6.

Nicky Henderson's charge has won two races from six starts so far in his career, one of those was a NHF race back in September, which he then followed up with a win over hurdles at Fakenham in November. However, this gelding by Saffron Walden's, progression may have come to a stop as he was beaten 11 lengths back in to third in January at 7/2 having been upped in class. In today's race he may struggle to contend with close second favourite in the market, John Constable, who won his Maiden over hurdles at Ludlow in January in taking fashion, suggesting opposing Nicolas Chauvin at the short odds of 2.166/5.

We find our second positive in the 17:50 2m NHF at Huntingdon, where Penn Lane has had noticeable support in to 3.9 from a high of 5.95/1.

Warren Greatrex's runners are always worth looking out for due to his impressive strike rate in bumpers (38% this season) and this four-year-old looks no exception. With winners in this gelding by Scorpion's pedigree, including a Grade 3 French winning hurdler, and a price tag of 41,000 euros, there looks to be plenty of reasons to get behind the market support for Penn Lane.
