The markets have been reviewed and all three of today's Follow The Money selections come from the all-weather meeting at Southwell...
We start with our lay of the day in the Class 5 Maiden Auction Stakes at 15:00 over the flying 5f at Southwell where we have seen Rampers drift from an early 3.02/1 out to 3.711/4. Our lay showed improvement from its debut last time out at Bath, however that was on the turf on very firm ground. His debut was at Chelmsford City where he didn't seem to like the deeper surface with the kick-back. With the way that Chelmsford's Polytrack is riding at the moment you can't help but think it will be the same for the Fibresand over at Southwell. With the Mark Johnson market rival seeing some support and having been placed on its debut on the Fibresand, we are willing to take on Rampers today.
The following race at Southwell sees our first back in the 15:30 Class 6 Handicap over 1m 3f. Frosty The Snowman has attracted significant early support having moved from a high of 8.07/1 in to 5.85/1 and represents the fairly in-form stable with trainer Ruth Carr enjoying a useful May. Our selection shaped well and was far from disgraced at Newcastle last time out when finishing sixth, building on his previous runner-up effort at this venue. He is now down to his lowest handicap mark with good previous form at Southwell. He is also trying blinkers on for the first time today with the added bonus of the All-Weather Championship winning jockey Luke Morris riding.
Finally our last selection is also at Southwell in the 16:00 Class 6 Handicap over 6f in the shape of Pancake Day, which has seen market support from a high of 7.06/1 in to 4.84/1. This is the second time this year that we have included him in this column and he has the best Southwell form on offer which is at a decent standard. He is a dual course and distance winner and ran a blinder when third over 5f at Catterick last time out. The only bad performance he has had at Southwell was back in February when he raced round on the inside part of the track that seemed to be much slower than the rest of the track at the time. He rates a big player now returned back to the Fibresand and what appears to be his ideal trip.
