Back Seranwen at 5.24/1 in the 14:10 at Leicester
Lay Lee Side Lady at 3.185/40 in the 16:40 at Fontwell

We start at Leicester where Seranwen has been forced down to 5.24/1 from 7.613/2 for the 14:10 2m Handicap Chase. Nigel Twiston Davies's nine-year-old came to grief at Taunton on chase debut, in a race won by the re-opposing Gallic Warrior, but he has a win over hurdles and the market confidence behind him suggests he may have plenty to offer over fences. It's anyone's guess what might have happened if the selection had stayed on his feet at Taunton but at more than double the price of the favourite he rates a more attractive betting proposition. Sam Twiston-Davies teams back up with his dad who has been in fine form, sending out four winners in the last fortnight, and the yard usually do well with their runners at this venue.

Across the border at Kelso there has been a notable move - 9.08/1 in to 6.611/2 - for Landecker in the 2m6f Handicap Hurdle at 15:40. Nick Alexander's capable eight-year-old is a three-time course winner and hinted at a return to form at Musselburgh on New Year's Day over an inadequate 3m2f. The selection wasn't beaten far in fourth that day and the drop back in distance is sure to suit. He runs off exactly the same mark so it would be disappointing if he couldn't at least make the frame in this wide-open contest. Jockey Lucy Alexander will be giving her all for her dad in another family affair and they look to have a lively each-way contender here.

Finally to Fontwell for their 16:40 2m3f Handicap Hurdle in which Lee Side Lady has been easy to back, weakening out to 3.185/40 from 2.546/4. Neil Mullholland's mare is a course winner and has remained on the same mark as when running well at Fakenham last time so has obvious claims. However, she didn't quite see out that race after looking the likely winner at the final flight and takes on a couple of interesting rivals in this, both ridden by claimers thus reducing the selection's weight advantage. Claire Pet has been well-backed on debut for Dr Richard Newland after switching from Ireland while Eco Warrior has also attracted support reverting to hurdles after struggling over the larger obstacles. As this is likely to be anything but straightforward for the selection the best play has to be to oppose her at the prices.
